Nabawan Town

I went on a work-related visit to Nabawan, last Thursday. Nabawan is on the road from Keningau to Tawau (Keningau - Sook - Nabawan - Sapulot - Kalabakan - Tawau). I was told that the unsealed stretch at Sapulot is now unpassable in the wet. The above photo is the Majlis Dearah building.

I didn't know that we have Volunteer Fire Brigades in Sabah ...

... How big does a town have to be, before the Government puts in a Bomba brigade?

The rest stop food stall ...

... and the few rows of shophouses in Nabawan.

On the way into the oil palm development project site, I saw that there were still logging on-going in the district.

We better be out before it rained!

The first steps in oil palm plantation development; underbrushing and felling. The un-felled bushes at the top right denoted the site boundary.

This will soon be all planted with oil palm.
