Sabah Indoor Climbing Centre (SICC)

Having read in the papers (a week ago) about an indoor climbing centre, I decided to check it out this morning. It's via the other end of the carpark area next to the Badminton Hall ...

... where there was a car wash. Going beyond the car wash ...

... you will then get to the SICC. What caught my eye was the structure to the right ...

... which turned out to be the ...

... skateboard rink ...

... it was a "good-size" area, but seemed unused(?).

The SICC was a three-sided structure ...

... with the walls of "rock" studded with hand-holds and foot-holds (and safety ropes) ...

... it reminded me of the "fun" we had at the Outward Bound School.

I noticed one of the staff climbing up by himself ...

... he used his right leg to push himself "up" the rope (left side), then used the device (I don't know what it was called) to lock onto the rope (left side). This allowed him to pull (shorten) the rope on the right side. Then he repeated the above actions to move up step by step ...

... and arrived at the top in no time at all.

Borneo International Marathon 2011

The Borneo International Marathon 2011 was held today. From their website; prize money for the full marathon winner (open & non-Malaysian) was RM4,500. Starting time for the full marathon (42.195 km) was 3.30am.

At last year's marathon, I just took some photos at the Sutera Harbour junction. So this year, I decided to take more.

The above two photos were taken at the junction near Wawasan Plaza.

Our policeman obviously blocked off the road ...

... leading to some bemused passengers off-loaded by the mini-buses who couldn't reach the Wawasan Bus Terminal ...

... so what else can you do? except take a nap and wait for the runners to finish.

Speaking of finishing; it was at The Likas Sports Stadium ...

... where the "international professionals" were already finishing ...

... together with some of our faster locals (I think the yellow coloured number tag meant he was not in the full marathon) ...

... no matter what, you still entered the stadium together ...

... and ran the last bit on the track ...

... while the pro winners were already relaxing ...

... but you did make it to the Finish line!

Huh! What's this? A runaway from Fukushima? ...

... who finished to an excited welcome ...

... for a true survivor ...

... who instantly became the most popular participant ...

... Now, what's she waiting for? ...

... Oh, there was another one of them runaways.

Meanwhile, the rest were still running ...

... Good Luck!
