PIKOM PC Fair 2010 - Kota Kinabalu

The PC Fair in Kota Kinabalu is on currently (6 - 8 August 2010) and the location is, the same as in the previous year, at 1Borneo Basement Carpark.

1Borneo, claimed to be the largest Lifestyle Hypermall (in East Malaysian Borneo I presume). It is located about 7 km from KK City Center and there are a lot of shops in this place (3 floors + basement), with many up-market brands.

The PC Fair is highlighted in the lobby. Note the dragon statue. There are also a number of pharaoh statues around the place. What these have to do with 1Borneo or the developer is beyond me.

The entrance. The event is well-organized, after so many years' experience. It's a one-way street. I felt that the crowd was smaller this year.

Perhaps more will visit on Sunday. It used to be that the selection of IT products in KK was much less than KL, and of course the prices were higher (so the PC Fairs were the opportunities to buy new stuff at lower prices). Nowadays the selections are just about as good and the price differences are minimal. So the PC Fair can only attract by the "Offers" given by the vendors during the Fair.

The final stretch had the Citibank Credit Card people and the broadband people (Celcom, Maxis, Digi) desperately going after the last remaining ringgits in your wallet before the PC Fair let you escape.

The Exit, finally. There were three "cheerleading women" with pom-poms (on the left in the photo). I had no idea what they were cheering about.
